What is “Harvest Festival”?
Harvest Festival is Taylor PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year! It’s an annual event that includes a Walkathon, Carnival, Auction, Raffle & BBQ. All of the money raised goes to fund supplemental programs that PTA runs including Art Vista and Project Cornerstone. Money raised also pays for all classroom fieldtrips, as well as necessary supplies that teachers need in the classroom. This year, we have a HUGE goal of completely renovating our Taylor Library. Our goal is to raise $80,000!
How is the money raised?
Students collect pledges from family and friends for the Walkathon. There are tons of prizes and incentives for the students and families. The Carnival, Auction, Raffle & BBQ are a big celebration held the same day as the Walkathon, as a culmination of a great day walking. All money raised in the evening also goes to the PTA budget.
Is there a theme?
Yes! This year our “ROARY’S FAIRYTALE LAND” theme celebrates classic fairytales in the land of our Tiger Mascot “Roary”! With our slogan, “Where imagination grows,” the walkathon track will be turned into our own magical fairytale land. Then, the evening festivities will include our “Taylor Carnival, Blue & Gold Auction/Raffle and Tiger Dinner”.
What is the schedule for Harvest Festival?
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th
Walkathon is during the school day around the back playground from 9:00am-2:00pm
Carnival, Auction, Raffle & BBQ will be in the front parking from 4:00pm-8:00pm
Can I help?
Yes! There are dozens of ways to get involved and contribute to this awesome event! Helping your child get sponsors for walkathon, donating items for your classroom auction basket, signing up to bring baked goods for our concession stand, and joining the team to help at walkathon…all are great ways to contribute. (Volunteers can buy a shirt to wear for $10 the week leading up to Harvest Festival. Sizes will be first come first serve). Do you own a business or know someone who does, that might be interested in donating something to our auction? Contact us.
What is the Blue & Gold Auction?
The auction will be held in the cafeteria. All items are donated to Taylor, so every penny you spend goes directly to the kids. An auction catalog will be sent home on October 3rd. (and a digital version will be added here). You can expect to see theme park tickets, museum passes, wine tasting, sports memorabilia, sporting event tickets, gym memberships, birthday party packages and much more! And, you can count on getting some GREAT deals (last year a Pump-It-Up birthday party for 15 kids that costs $239 went for $60! A Karate Party for 20 kids went for $50)! We’ll also be offering “Teacher Experiences” where you can pay a flat fee for a special experience with some of Taylor’s awesome teachers! The most popular items are the classroom baskets donated and put together by each class (see other side for details). And, new this year we’ll have an original piece of art up for auction from each classroom! Be sure to grab a bottle of wine from the “Wine Cellar” at the auction, for $10 where you’ll take home a bottle valued from $10-$50!
How does the Raffle work?
Raffle tickets are $5.00 and will be sold all week, leading up to Harvest Festival. You can buy them before & after school, for your chance to win 4 Disneyland Park Hopper Passes, a 2 night stay in Anaheim & a $100 gas card! Your neighbors and relatives might just want you to buy tickets for them, too. J The winner will be announced at 7:45pm at Harvest Festival. It’s big…you won’t want to miss it! Someone will win…why not you?!
What’s the Tiger Tailgate?
It’s definitely the place to be for dinner at Harvest Festival! Enjoy dinner at a picnic table, while listening to tunes played by our in house DJ. Presale meal tickets will be sold all week before & after school the week leading up to Harvest Festival. Save room for sweets at our Tiger Concession Stand and Old Fashioned Italian Soda/Float table where even more great food and drink items will be available. More details will be available in September.
